Marmoris

There is a little church in my hometown. It was built in what is considered to be the center of our town, yet it remains isolated.

The distant children’s voices of the local amusement park are wrapped up with the calming sound of waves that crash just by its stairs.

Saint Euplous which means a good voyage. Such a fitting name for a church that waves goodbye to all ships that set sail. Such a fitting place for a christening that welcomes a new member in our lives.

Every little maritime detail of that day was inspirational. The shore, the birds, the boats, the colors, the sounds, the traditional navy nature of little Nikolaos.

Everything covered by the dreamy shiny sheet of marmoris that covered the crystal-clear sea.

It’s true that happiness can fit into the smallest things. Like a little church. Like some photographs of beloved people by the shimmering afternoon light.
