Dear Diary,
The lockdown blurring of identical days prevents us from creating new memories, which is crucial to our sense of time perception. When we look back at our isolation days, time seems to have disappeared.
That is not the case for Maria and George, who have filled this year with loving new memories.
I have these photographs in my hand and I am living this journey with them all over again.
It is the photograph of a father holding his son’s face and looking him in the eye, all proud for who he is shaped to be on that warm August day.
There is a photograph of a mother holding tight her beautiful daughter just before she is about to start her own family.
And another one where a young couple are facing each other, recognising the person they are about to spend their life with.
In 10 seconds time, he is about to kiss her gently on the lips.
It is January and he is holding her hand as they walk on fresh snow.
Seven seconds now.
She is wearing a black leather jacket, she feels so cold yet so cozy during that winter afternoon on the mountain.
Next photograph. They look so happy. No jackets. Just friends dancing and laughing and enjoying the moment.
Three seconds, two.
Memories of moments we enjoyed is the only way to measure the time we lived and this year has been a whole lifetime for Maria and George .
One year full of moving, happy, fun, romantic moments.
One.
They kiss.
I look at their photographs and I see a couple that made a year full of adversities the most wonderful year for each other.
